GeIL PC2 8500:

Its clear from looking at the paper specifications that GeIL have gone all out to produce the fastest DDR2 available and on the basis of today's testing it would seem that they have achieved this goal. When paired with the AM2 platform GeIL's PC2-8500 manages to obtain the fastest memory performance we have seen on "out of the box" settings. When you add to this the fact that the sticks can run at the exceptionally low timings of DDR2-800 3-3-3-8 2T, Trc 17 you have a wealth of performance open to you. The modules were also quite overclockable reaching DDR2-900 speeds at the timings of 4-4-4-12. From reading GeILs online documentation it may be possible to exceed our results given the correct system set-up and some enthusiast cooling on your CPU.

Summary:

For ease of use and best performance out of the box GeIL's PC2-8500 is our preference between the two products on test today. If you don't mind a little extra configuration (or require EPP memory) then Corsair is an equally good purchase. However if you see one or the other brand on special offer when shopping then it may well be a perfect decision maker.
